Who We Help
Musicians
As an ex-professional musician with many musician clients, and a regular performer in and around London, David has never been far away from the centre of the musical world in London. Throughout his thirty-plus years in the financial services industry he has helped countless freelance, salaried and part-time musicians of all musical genres. He fully understands the lifestyle and insecurities of the profession, and is therefore able to take these factors into consideration when helping his clients find the best mortgage, as many of his clients will testify.
Clients with more complex income arrangements
At David Carnac & Co, in addition to our many musician clients, we have successfully arranged mortgages for increasing numbers of clients with more complex income arrangements including those who have multiple sources and styles of income. Whether you are employed on a shorter term contract, self-employed or a director of your own company or even a combination of both, especially in these uncertain economic times, selecting the most appropriate mortgage has never been more important. And, contrary to popular belief, even for really complex cases, it’s eminently do-able if you know what the lender requires and how they want to see the application presented.
Self-employed individuals
The majority of our clients have some element of self-employment, often representing their freelance performing activities. We have schemes available to clients who have recently become self-employed or formed their own Limited Company and know exactly what those lenders will require to approve these cases.
David entered the Financial Services Industry in 1987 after a brief career as a professional musician. He gathered extensive industry experience within a number of advisory and management roles before he established David Carnac & Co in 1997, an independent practice totally designed to meet the needs of his discerning clientèle. His clients, acquired mainly through personal recommendations, have a wide range of backgrounds. Many are musicians or connected with the arts and he also has an ever-growing number of clients who are small business owners and or have more complex income structures.
David Carnac
Director and Senior Adviser
David studied the trombone with Peter Gane and Denis Wick at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in the early 1980’s. He freelanced extensively during and immediately after this period but in 1988 joined the then rapidly expanding financial services sector and banished his trombone to the loft to concentrate on building a career in financial services. In 1997 he took the plunge and set up David Carnac & Co to specialise in providing independent mortgage advice to his ever-growing client bank, many of whom are musicians or those connected with the arts.
In 2006, following repeated suggestions by many of his friends and clients, he ventured into his loft, dusted his trombone off and gingerly blew it to see if both the trombone and his “chops” had any life in them. David now complements his busy business life with a wide range of musical projects, playing principal trombone with the pick of London’s finest amateur orchestras, a considerable amount of chamber music and many charity events including tours to Zambia, Kenya, Sri Lanka and various Indian cities with the musical charity group Toccata.
